  • Overview

Agitation is one of the most common neuropsychiatric symptoms for patients with Alzheimer’s dementia and manifests as both non-aggressive and aggressive behaviors,1-3 and these behavioral symptoms can significantly affect both patients and their caregivers. That’s why a new screening tool called the Agitation in Alzheimer’s Screener for CaregiversTM was developed to support caregivers in early recognition, facilitate discussions with clinicians, and aid in the potential diagnosis of agitation in Alzheimer’s dementia. Learn more about how this tool was developed and how it works with Drs. Carolyn Clevenger and George Grossberg. Dr. Clevenger is the Founder and Director of Integrated Memory Care in Atlanta, Georgia, and Dr. Grossberg is the Director of the Division of Geriatric Psychiatry in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Neuroscience at St Louis University School of Medicine.
