After losing a close family member to cancer, Dr. Balogun pursued her medical career to mitigate the suffering that patients with cancer experience through their treatment journey. Her approach has been multi-faceted and systematic, and she’s brought better radiation therapy to middle- and low-income countries, kicked off a genomic study to crack the code on cancer disparities, and partnered with a former patient to redesign brachytherapy devices that reduce discomfort for patients during treatment.
