  • Overview

Join experts from the multidisciplinary team to explore how Factor XIa inhibition can address a longstanding challenge: reducing recurrent ischemic events without the bleeding tradeoffs associated with conventional antithrombotic approaches.

Neurologists will examine what emerging FXIa strategies could mean for patients with residual stroke risk.

Hematologists will explore the thrombosis and hemostasis science behind this new approach and their evolving consultative role.

Cardiologists will consider how these therapies may fit within broader cardiovascular and cerebrovascular risk management.

Examine Phase III efficacy and safety findings and consider how trial populations translate to the patients you see in practice. Then, see how these different perspectives come together to support individualized treatment decisions and stronger cross-specialty.

  • Target Audience

This educational activity is intended for HCPs who care for patients at risk for secondary stroke, including physicians (MD/DOs), advanced practice professionals (nurse practitioners and physician associates), pharmacists, and nurses, with primary emphasis on hematologists and the consultative role they play within multidisciplinary stroke care teams.

  • Learning Objectives

After participating in this educational activity, participants should be better able to:

    • Articulate the scientific basis for combining Factor XIa inhibition with antiplatelet therapy in the context of secondary stroke prevention
    • Distinguish how Factor XIa inhibition selectively disrupts pathological thrombosis while preserving hemostasis compared with conventional antithrombotic approaches
    • Recognize key efficacy and safety outcomes from Phase III clinical trials of Factor XIa inhibitors in secondary stroke prevention
    • Assess the generalizability of Factor XIa inhibitors clinical trial populations to patients encountered in routine clinical practice
    • Envision the evolving role of hematologists in Factor XIa inhibitors in secondary stroke prevention algorithms
    • Evaluate multidisciplinary best practices that optimize secondary stroke prevention outcomes and support effective cross-specialty communication among hematology, stroke neurology, and cardiology
  • Accreditation and Credit Designation Statements

In support of improving patient care, this activity has been planned and implemented by The France Foundation and International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis. The France Foundation is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) to provide continuing education for the health care team.

    Physician Credit Designation
The France Foundation designates this enduring activity for a maximum of 1 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

All other health care professionals completing this course will be issued a statement of participation.

Some faculty may discuss uses of pharmaceutical agents or devices that are not included in U.S. Food and Drug Administration–approved labeling. These discussions are provided solely for educational purposes and should not be construed as a recommendation for any particular use. Learners are encouraged to review full prescribing information for products discussed.
