  • Overview

    This program focuses on the management of life-threatening bleeds from a range of specialties: Emergency Medicine, Neurocritical Care, Trauma, and Gastroenterology. A panel of international Emergency Medicine experts will provide perspectives on each of the associated areas of bleeding and relevant clinical cases.

  • Target Audience

    This activity has been designed to meet the educational needs of Emergency Medicine, Neurocritical Care, Trauma, Gastroenterology, and Hematology healthcare professionals and their interdisciplinary team involved in the management of life-threatening bleeds in the presence of an anticoagulant.

  • Learning Objectives

    After participating in this educational activity, participants should be better able to: 

    • Demonstrate the ability to delineate reversal from repletion for life-threatening bleeding in the anticoagulated patient
    • Demonstrate the ability to distinguish treatment implications for intracerebral, cerebellar, subdural, and subarachnoid hemorrhage in the anticoagulated patient
    • Distinguish between gastrointestinal bleeding in the anticoagulated patient, which requires observation in the ICU, versus life-threatening bleeding, which requires specific reversal therapy
    • Review specific reversal and repletion management by the emergency physician for anticoagulated patients with trivial to major trauma

GLC is jointly accredited by the American Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.
