William Berger, MD

    William E. Berger, MD, FAAAAI, FACAAI, is Clinical Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of California-Irvine and a practicing allergist who also serves as Medical Director of Southern California Research in Mission Viejo, California. He is board certified in pediatrics and in allergy and immunology.

    Dr Berger received his medical degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. He completed his internship and residency in pediatrics at UCLA Medical Center, and his fellowship in adult and pediatric allergy and clinical immunology at National Jewish Hospital and Research Center in Denver.

    Dr Berger has held many distinguished positions, including President of the American College of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology; President of the California Society of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology; and Medical Staff Allergist for the United States Olympic Swim Team. In 2002, he was included in the Guide to Top Doctor by Consumers' Checkbook Magazine.

    Dr Berger has published more than 100 peer-reviewed medical journal articles on allergy and asthma. His most recent work has focused on the efficacy of various allergy and asthma-related medications, including levalbuterol for the treatment of pediatric asthma and budesonide inhalation suspension for the treatment of asthma in infants and children. In addition, he is the author of several books, including Asthma for Dummies, part of the popular and widely distributed Dummies educational series. Dr Berger has been frequently featured as an expert in his field and has appeared on CNN, CBS Evening News, Dateline NBC, and Good Morning America.
