Robert J. Tosatto, RPh, MPH, MBA

    Captain Rob Tosatto serves as director of the Office of the Civilian Volunteer Medical Reserve Corps in the Office of the U.S. Surgeon General. He is responsible for the overall management and oversight of all MRC programmatic activities.

    Captain Tosatto previously served in the HHS Office of Global Health Affairs (OGHA) as Director of the Office for Eurasia. His primary role was managing the HHS Biotechnology Engagement Program and coordinating HHS activities with Russia and other former Soviet countries.

    Prior to the OGHA assignment, he was detailed to the Washington, D.C. Commission on Mental Health Services, where he served as Director of the Medical Staff Office at St. Elizabeth's Hospital. He also completed several tours of duty with the Indian Health Service, including assignments on the Navajo, Fort Hall, and Pine Ridge Indian Reservations.

    Captain Tosatto has been deployed on numerous occasions with the U.S. Public Health Service (PHS) Commissioned Corps, including several national special security events, five response missions following the anthrax mailings in 2001, and at the Kosovar refugee health clinic during "Operation Provide Refuge."

    Captain Tosatto has been a PHS officer since 1988. He holds a bachelors degree in pharmacy from the University of Pittsburgh and masters degrees in public health and business administration from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
