Rahul Parikh, MD

    Dr. Rahul Parikh is a pediatrician in the San Francisco Bay Area. He regularly writes and blogs about medicine and society.Currently, he writes the Vital Signs column for Salon. His writing has also appeared in the Los Angeles Times, San Francisco Chronicle, New York Times, and Slate.com.

    Dr. Parikh grew up near Los Angeles. He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of California, Berkeley, and then attended medical school at the Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston. While at Tufts, Dr. Parikh helped create the Sharewood Project, a free medical clinic that provides care to homeless and indigent citizens in Boston.

    Dr. Parikh received his training in pediatrics at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. During that time, he spent two months in India working with pediatric residents in Mumbai and Ahmedabad. He currently practices pediatrics in Walnut Creek, California, with a special focus in adolescent medicine.
