Dr. Pelin Cinar is a specialist in gastrointestinal oncology with an interest in pancreatic cancer. As the director of quality improvement for the UC San Francisco Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center (HDFCCC), she oversees all internal and external quality improvement and patient safety initiatives related to cancer.
Dr. Cinar earned her medical degree and completed her residency in internal medicine at the University of California, Irvine. She received her fellowship training in hematology and oncology at UCSF, where she was appointed as the chief fellow.
In 2014, Dr. Cinar joined the faculty of the Stanford Cancer Center as a gastrointestinal oncologist. She was also assistant medical director for cancer care quality and associate director for quality and curriculum for Stanford's oncology fellowship program. In 2015, she was selected to participate in the American Society of Clinical Oncology's Quality Training Program and she currently serves as a faculty/coach for this program. In 2016, she was recruited back to UCSF to develop the Quality & Safety Program for the UCSF Cancer Center.
In addition to her role at UCSF, Dr. Cinar leads the quality efforts for the UC Cancer Consortium which is a consortium of the five University of California Comprehensive Cancer Centers. She also serves as an associate editor for the JCO Oncology Practice.
