Pam R. Taub, MD, FACC, is a board-certified cardiologist who focuses on general and preventive cardiology, as well as women's cardiovascular health. As a general cardiologist, she works with patients to diagnose and prevent heart disease, as well as manage conditions such as hypertension (high blood pressure), coronary artery disease, or heart failure. She is the founding director of the Step Family Foundation Cardiac Rehabilitation and Wellness Center at Jacobs Medical Center. Dr. Taub was responsible for all aspects of creating the center, which provides a comprehensive cardiac rehabilitation program for patients with established heart disease. Dr. Taub is professor of medicine in the UC San Diego School of Medicine and is active in clinical and translational research. She has received funding from the National Institutes of Health, the U.S. Department of Defense and the American Heart Association. Her research focuses on assessing the impact of behavioral, technological and pharmacological interventions on cardiometabolic disease. Dr. Taub is widely published (with over 100 publications, book chapters and abstracts) and has authored numerous high impact publications in top peer-reviewed journals including Cell Metabolism and Journal of the American College of Cardiology. She has consistently been selected by her peers as a top physician in San Diego Magazine's "Physicians of Exceptional Excellence" annual survey performed in collaboration with the San Diego County Medical Society. Dr. Taub completed a fellowship in cardiology at UC San Diego School of Medicine. She completed a residency in internal medicine at the University of Washington Medical Center in Seattle and earned her medical degree from Boston University School of Medicine. She is board certified in internal medicine and cardiovascular disease.
