Lisa Boggio, MD

    Dr. Lisa Boggio is assistant professor of medicine in the Department of Medicine, Division of Hematology and Oncology, Section of Hematology. At Rush University Medical Center, Dr Boggio is the clinical director of the Rush Hemophilia Treatment Center. This federally-funded center offers comprehensive treatment for children and adults with hemophilia, von Willebrand disease, and other bleeding disorders, as well as a wide range of clotting disorders. She is also a co-director of the consultative hematology service.

    Dr. Boggio has expertise in bleeding and thrombotic disorders, cytopenias, myeloproliferative disorders, and myelodysplastic disorders. She has authored numerous publications and was a recipient of the David Green-Hau Kwaan Teaching Award at Northwestern University.

    Prior to joining Rush, Dr. Boggio was director of the Northwestern Center for Bleeding Disorders at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. She was also Medical Director of the Northwestern Memorial Hospital Blood Center, where she supervised the collection of blood products and outpatient transfusion services. She was involved in many clinical trials for the treatment of thrombosis, iron overload, cytopenias, and bleeding disorders, as well as contributing to the blood transfusion committee, the Northwestern University Institutional Review Board, and, as a medical consultant, to the hematology clinical laboratory.

    Dr. Boggio graduated from the Chicago Medical School in 1993 and completed her residency in internal medicine and fellowship in hematology and oncology at Northwestern University. She is a member of the American Society of Hematology, the Hemophilia Foundation of Illinois, the National Hemophilia Foundation, the World Federation of Hemophilia, the International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis, and the Hemophilia and Thrombosis Research Society, and she has contributed to several committees within these societies. She is a member of the board of directors and is Medical Director of Camp Warren Jyrch of the Hemophilia Foundation of Illinois. She is a guest reviewer for several journals, including the American Journal of Hematology, Blood Coagulation and Fibrinolysis, Bone Marrow Transplantation, International Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Journal of the American Medical Association, The American Journal of Cardiology, and Haemophilia.
