Dr. Laura Wexler is a professor of medicine and cardiology at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine and the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical center in Cincinnati.

She was on the faculty of Boston University School of Medicine and an investigator in their Cardiac Muscle Research Laboratory until she joined the University of Cincinnati faculty in 1987. She was appointed section chief of cardiology at their affiliated VA Medical Center, a position she held for 11 years. After serving as interim director of the division of cardiology, she was appointed to her current position as an associate dean of the College of Medicine in 2001.

In addition to her administrative and medical student teaching responsibilities, Dr. Wexler continues to practice cardiology and teach residents and fellows at the VA Medical Center. Her clinical research activities in recent years have focused on sleep apnea in patients with congestive heart failure.

She recently completed a four-year term as chairman of the Cardiovascular Board of the American Board of Internal Medicine and now serves on their executive committee. She is also a site visitor for the Liaison Committee on Medical Education and a member of the Leadership Committee of the American Heart Association. Dr. Wexler is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology, the American Heart Association and the American College of Physicians.
