John Whapham, MD, MS

    Dr. John Whapham is an assistant professor in the departments of neurology and neurological surgery at the Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine. His medical interests include medical management of vasospasm and vasculitis, acute management of cerebral edema, cerebrovascular bio-technology and telemedical robotics, as well as surgical interests in acute stroke revascularization technology and complex aneurysm staged remodeling.

    Dr. Whapham earned his medical degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine, and completed his internship in translational medicine at Sinai Grace Hospital in Detroit, and his neurology residency at Detroit Medical Center. His subsequent fellowship training included three separate experiences: stroke and neuro-critical care in the department of neurology and ophthalmology at Michigan State University's Sparrow Health System in Lansing, Michigan, and diagnostic cerebral angiography and endovascular neurosurgery, both in the department of neurosurgery at Providence Hospital in Southfield, Michigan. In addition, he earned his master of science degree in neurochemistry, and he is working to complete his doctoral degree in cellular and clinical neurobiology, both at Wayne State.
