J. Michael Jumper, MD, is a retina specialist and partner in the West Coast Retina Medical Group of San Francisco. He serves as Vitreoretinal Fellowship Co-director at the California Pacific Medical Center. He received his medical degree from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. He completed a residency in ophthalmology at the University of California, San Francisco followed by a fellowship in vitreoretinal surgery at the Duke University Eye Center in Durham, North Carolina.

Dr Jumper has been an investigator for several government and industry sponsored clinical trials. He has authored more than 50 publications as well as 10 book chapters on retinal disease and uveitis. In addition, he is a member of several professional societies, including the Retina Society, American Society of Retina Specialists (ASRS), American Academy of Ophthalmology, and Association of Pediatric Retinal Surgeons. He served as the Editor-in-Chief for Retina Times from 2012 - 2016. He has received an honor awards from the AAO and a senior honor award ASRS.
