Ian F. Parney, M.D., Ph.D., is a neurosurgeon with special interest in malignant brain tumor surgery. His clinical focus includes: -Brain tumors including gliomas, glioblastomas and other primary malignant brain tumors, metastatic brain tumors, and meningiomas -Surgery for tumors in critical brain locations -Surgery using intraoperative MRI -Mapping motor and speech function during surgery, including awake brain surgery -Gamma Knife radiosurgery -Laser ablation for brain tumors In addition to his clinical activities, Dr. Parney is a scientist and cancer researcher. He coordinates local and national clinical trials of brain tumor vaccines and other immune therapies, authors expert content, and publishes in high-impact medical and scientific journals. He is active in education and provides supervision for students, residents and fellows. Dr. Parney is professor and vice chair for research for the Department of Neurologic Surgery at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, and Mayo Clinic enterprise chair for neurosurgery research. He is also a member of the Mayo Clinic School of Medicine Admissions Oversight Committee and has leadership roles in multiple national neurosurgical and neuro-oncology organizations.
