Gary Stoner, PhD
Gary Stoner, PhD

    Dr. Gary Stoner is a professor emeritus in the division of hematology and oncology within the department of internal medicine and a professor of pathology at the Ohio State University College of Medicine, where he is also the director of the laboratory of cancer chemoprevention and etiology for the Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute. Previously at Ohio State, he has served as director of the chemoprevention program, chair of the division of environmental health sciences, associate dean for research, and co-director of the Center for Molecular and Environmental Health.

    He served as the chair of the American Cancer Society's Carcinogenesis, Nutrition and Environment Advisory Committee, and chair of the Chemo/Dietary Prevention Study Section at the National Institutes of Health and the National Cancer Institute. He has also served as a visiting scientist at the Food and Drug Administration's National Center for Toxicological Research, the Lucius Wing Endowed Chair for Cancer Research and Therapy at Ohio State and as a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science.

    Dr. Stoner earned his master of science in microbiology and his doctoral degree in microbiology and cell biology at the University of Michigan, and then completed his post-doctoral work in biology and chemical carcinogenesis at the University of California, San Diego.
