Dr. David Morens is senior adviser to the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, National Institutes of Health. From 1982 to 1999, he was professor of tropical medicine at the University of Hawaii's John A. Burns School of Medicine and chairman of the epidemiology department at the School of Public Health. Dr. Morens' research interests include viral disease pathogenesis, epidemiology, and the relationship between biomedical research and public health. He is an associate editor of Emerging Infectious Diseases.
