After going down the usual academic path of teaching and research, Dr. Bruce Dan became involved in communications, which was jump-started by attending his first AMA Communications Conference 25 years ago (he's been a faculty member ever since).
Dr. Dan was the senior editor of JAMA before beginning his broadcasting career at ABC News. He then founded American Medical Television, the Medical News Network, and WebMD. In addition to broadcasting on PBS and NPR. Dr. Dan now heads up The Patient Channel, which broadcasts medical education around the clock to patients in 1,700 hospitals.
