Amy Allen Case, MD, FAAHPM
    Dr. Amy Case is the Chair of the Supportive Care Program at Roswell Park Cancer Institute. She recently transitioned to Roswell Park after serving as the director of palliative medicine at the VA Western New York Healthcare System for the last 11 years. In 2005, she started and currently serves as the program director for the University at Buffalo (UB) Palliative Medicine Fellowship. She is an Associate Professor in the Division of Geriatrics and Palliative Medicine at UB.

    Dr. Case completed her residency in internal medicine at the University at Buffalo and went on to complete a fellowship in palliative and pain medicine at Beth Israel Medical Center in New York. She is board certified in Internal Medicine, Hospice and Palliative Medicine and Pain Medicine. She has several published articles and book chapters, collaborating with national leaders in palliative medicine. She has a focus on neuropathic pain, prognostication and palliative medicine education. She is involved with both academic and scholarly projects involving the palliation of COPD, humanism in medical education and patient and family perspectives when facing transitions in focus of care. Dr. Case has given many lectures locally and has been invited nationally to speak on palliative and pain topics.

    One of Dr. Case’s passions is palliative medical education. She has taken the Royal College of Physician (RCP) faculty educator course and went on to sit for faculty to design the curriculum for the UB/RCP course which is now offered annually to UB faculty to improve their teaching skills. She teaches medical students, residents, and fellows daily. Dr. Case serves as chair for the education special interest group for the national organization, the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine (AAHPM).

    Dr. Case was elected as fellow of the AAHPM in 2015, with designated title of FAAHPM. She is on the editorial board of the Annals of Palliative Medicine as well as edits a brief report series on palliative medicine education, the Educational Exchange, in The Journal of Pain and Symptom Management.
