  • Overview

As AI technology becomes more advanced and human-like, clinicians are beginning to see a new phenomenon: AI-induced psychosis. In this timely discussion, Dr. Ragy Girgis joins Dr. Alexandria May to explain how large language models can unintentionally reinforce delusions in individuals with schizophrenia and even trigger psychosis in those with no prior diagnosis. They also explore the clinical red flags to watch for and which patient profiles may be most vulnerable. Dr. Girgis is a Professor of Clinical Psychiatry at the Columbia University Department of Psychiatry and New York State Psychiatric Institute, where he’s also the Director of the Center of Prevention and Evaluation.
