Even though physician assistants aren't officially recognized in Australia, the University of Queensland is training its first class of PAs. The two-year program, which is comparable to the traditional US model, will graduate its first home-grown PAs in 2011. Host Lisa Dandrea Lenell talks with Karen Mulitalo, director of the PA program at Queensland, to discuss these new pioneers in the field, where the program is heading in the next five years and the challenges that lie ahead as they try to gain acceptance from the medical and general community.
