    Dr. Chang presents two cases: a patient who is experiencing progressive reading problems and a patient who is experiencing difficulty with driving.

    Upon completion of this activity, the participant should be able to:

    • Review the prevalence of, and risk factors for, age-related macular degeneration (AMD) and geographic atrophy (GA)
    • Examine the complement system’s role in GA and outline which steps in the complement cascade may be effective therapeutic targets
    • Compare the strengths and drawbacks of various imaging platforms and learn how GA manifests on each modality
    • Detail data from pipeline candidates that are furthest along in development and outline the most recent updates on regulatory filings
    • Identify which clinical features indicate high risk of disease progression and formulate models for adjusting practice patterns in the event of drug approval
