  • Overview

Amyloid-related imaging abnormalities (ARIA) represent a critical challenge in the management of Alzheimer's disease (AD), requiring a collaborative, interdisciplinary approach. This program, "Clinical Conundrums: Navigating Case Scenarios in Your Own Practice Setting," offers healthcare professionals concise, case-based microlearning episodes—each approximately 5 minutes long—designed to fit seamlessly into busy schedules. With real-world scenarios and expert-led discussions, this activity provides practical strategies to address diagnostic, monitoring, and therapeutic considerations, equipping participants to optimize patient care and outcomes in their respective fields.

  • Learning Objectives

After participating in this educational activity, participants should be better able to:

    • Outline optimal monitoring strategies (e.g., baseline and follow-up MRIs) for ARIA in all patients prescribed anti-amyloid beta monoclonal antibodies (anti-Aβ mAbs), and any variations based on individual risk factors, to ensure ARIA is identified in a timely manner
    • Assess possible symptoms and differential diagnoses of both ARIA-E and ARIA-H and determine appropriate next steps based on care setting and current recommendations
    • Appraise and differentiate key radiographic features of ARIA (e.g., type, severity) to accurately interpret imaging findings and properly diagnose ARIA
    • Identify both proactive and reactive management strategies that have been employed for individual presentations of ARIA, to maximize patient safety while minimizing therapeutic disruption
    • Identify vital elements of interdisciplinary communication and patient counseling regarding ARIA diagnosis and management to ensure safe, comprehensive care, and consistent care in patients prescribed anti-Aβ mAbs
