  • Overview

Congenital adrenal hyperplasia (CAH) is a group of genetic disorders of the adrenal gland that result in variable deficiencies of cortisol. In about 90 to 95 percent of the cases, CAH is caused by a lack of the enzyme, called 21-hydroxylase. Since CAH is associated with adrenal insufficiency, clinicians may recommend that patients and families receive instruction on managing physiologic stress. To learn more CAH management practices, tune in with Dr. Charles Turck as he speaks with Dr. Maria Vogiatzi, Attending Physician in the Division of Endocrinology at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.
