  • Overview

Clinicians treating people living with HIV face growing challenges in assessing and managing kidney dysfunction. In a national survey presented at IDWeek 2025, Drs. Amanda Binkley and William Short uncovered significant variability in renal assessment methods, drug dosing practices, and nephrology referral thresholds, highlighting the need to improve clinical consistency and align care with current best practices. And now, they’re here with Ryan Quigley to discuss the data and emphasize the need for targeted education to support more accurate, evidence-based kidney care for people living with HIV. Dr. Binkley is an Infectious Diseases Clinical Pharmacy Specialist at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center in Philadelphia, and Dr. Short is an Associate Professor of Medicine in the Division of Infectious Diseases at the University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine.
