  • Overview

Pain during the IUD insertion process may be more common than we realize as at least 70 percent of patients experience some pain or discomfort during the procedure. Given this surprising statistic, it’s important to know how to counsel patients before, during, and after the procedure so that we can set their expectations and proactively manage their pain. Joining Dr. Jennifer Caudle to share key counseling strategies is Dr. Courtney Schreiber, Chief of Family Planning in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania.
