Dr. Xavier Sevilla is a full-time practicing pediatrician at Whole Child Pediatrics in Lakewood Ranch, Florida. His interest in quality improvement in primary care practices earned him an Honorable Mention Quality of Care Award from the American Academy of Pediatrics for his work on improving care for the medically underserved patients in Manatee County, Florida. He also received the 2006 Award for Excellence in Health Care Improvement from the Florida Children's Quality Improvement Initiative.

Dr. Sevilla has been on the faculty of the Open Access collaborative in North Carolina for the Center for Children's Health Care Improvement. He serves on the steering committee of Quality Improvement and Management of the American Academy of Pediatrics. He was part of the Academy's Work Group on the Patient Centered Medical Home, which together with the NCQA, ACP, AAFP and the AOA released the paper, "Joint Principles of the Patient Centered Medical Home."
