A member of the ATP III panel and editor of the chapter on Lipoproteins and Atherosclerosis for the Year Book of Endocrinology, Dr. Howard is an endocrinologist specializing in lipidology, and a professor of medicine at the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences.

In addition, Dr. Howard has been been studying metabolic syndrome, type-2 diabetes, dyslipidemia and atherosclerosis in Native Americans for more than 25 years.
