Prof. Heinemann is the Director of the Comprehensive Cancer Center at the University of Munich. His outstanding achievements in treating and studying cancer treatment were recognized in 2013, when he received the German Cancer Award (Deutscher Krebspreis). In addition to treating patients and teaching oncology at the University of Munich, Prof. Heinemann is currently Chair of the German Arbeitsgemeinschaft Internistische Onkologie (Working Group of Medical Oncology, or AIO) as well as the AIO’s Pancreatic Cancer Working Group, and a member of the steering committee of its Colorectal Cancer Working Group. He is also Co-chair of both the Tumor Center Munich (TZM) and its Gastrointestinal Cancer Working Group.
