Dr. Thomas Seyfried is a professor in the department of biology at Boston College. He received a PhD in 1976 in genetics and neurochemistry from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, followed by a postdoctoral degree from Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut, in the field of neurochemistry and genetics. His field of interest is gene-environmental interactions in epilepsy and brain cancer. Dr. Seyfried's lab at Boston College focuses on studying dietary therapies for epilepsy, brain cancer, and neurodegenerative lipid storage diseases.
Dr. Seyfried is the current investigator on several National Institute of Health/National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke studies, and on the editorial board for several publications including Nutrition and Metabolism, Neurochemical Research and the Journal of Lipid Research.
