Steve Twedt is a medical investigative reporter with the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette in Pennsylvania. Based on a phone call from a physician, he began looking into the hospital peer review process and found that it is sometimes abused to quiet doctors who advocate for their patients too vocally or frequently. He wrote a series of articles on the subject titled, "The Cost of Courage: How the tables turn on doctors."
