Robert M. Tennant is senior policy advisor for the Medical Group Management Association (MGMA). Mr. Tennant focuses on federal legislative and regulatory health information technology issues, including the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, electronic health records, electronic prescribing and the International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems 10th Revision (ICD-10), the World Health Organization's classification and coding of diseases and signs, symptoms, abnormal findings, complaints, social circumstances and external causes of injury or diseases. He participates in numerous industry efforts for physicians and their practicves. He joined MGMA in June 1997. He received his undergraduate degree from Carleton University and his master's degree from the University of Western Ontario, Canada. Mr. Tennant also attended the University of Maryland, College Park for Doctoral studies.

Mr. Tennant has been the recipient of the Workgroup for Electronic Data Interchange's Distinguished Service Award and its Leadership in Technology Award.
