Richard Umbdenstock is the president and chief executive officer of the American Hospital Association, a trade association and lobby that represents about 5,000 U.S. hospitals and health care systems. Prior to his role, Mr. Umbdenstock was executive vice president of Providence Health & Services, a 27-hospital integrated health delivery system with facilities in Washington, Alaska, Montana, Oregon and California.
