Dr. Philip Barter is director of The Heart Research Institute, in Sydney, Australia and is also a Professor of Medicine at the University of Sydney. He graduated in medicine from the University of Adelaide and gained his PhD from the Australian National University. He is a fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians. He has previously held positions in research institutes and universities in Australia and the US. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the International Task Force for Prevention of Coronary Heart Disease and Secretary of the International Atherosclerosis Society.
