    Paolo Raggi, MD, FACP, FACC, recently joined Emory University as Professor of Medicine-Cardiology and Professor of Radiology. Dr. Raggi received his doctor of medicine and surgery degree Summa Cum Laude from the University of Bologna Medical School in Bologna, Italy. He served residencies in internal medicine at Bologna University Hospital and at Cabrini Medical Center, affiliated with New York Medical College in Valhalla, New York, and he completed his cardiovascular fellowship at the Long Island College Hospital-State University of New York Health Science Center in Brooklyn in 1994. After his graduation, he was Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of Virginia, then Associate and Full Professor of Medicine at Tulane University in New Orleans until 2005 where he directed the training program in adult Cardiology. Research Among Dr. Raggi's current research interests are surrogate markers of atherosclerosis, preventive cardiology, follow-up of progression of atherosclerosis by non-invasive imaging and cardiovascular disease in patients affected by end-stage renal disease. A founder and President of the Society of Atherosclerosis Imaging from 2001 to 2004, he has chaired three of the Society?s International Symposia (February 2001, May 2002 and May 2004). He has delivered numerous invited lectures on these topics, most recently at the 38th European Dialysis and Transplant Congress (June 2001) and at the 40th American Society of Nephrology Annual Meeting (October 2002). He has delivered numerous invited lectures on these topics, and his research has been published in the New England Journal of Medicine, Annals of Internal Medicine, Circulation, Journal of the American College of Cardiology, Kidney International, American Journal of Kidney Diseases, Chest and others. Dr. Raggi serves as a consultant for almost 30 scientific medical publications and serves on the Editorial Board of 4 medical journals. He is a fellow of the American College of Physicians and the American College of Cardiology and serves on the Imaging Advisory Board of the American College of Cardiology. Clinical Dr. Raggi is actively involved in several clinical activities of the Division of Cardiology that include echocardiography and nuclear cardiology test interpretation, performance of diagnostic cardiac catheterization, rounding on patient wards and new patient visits in the outpatient clinic area. He is also involved with interpretation and coordination of cardiac computed tomography and magnetic resonance studies for the diagnosis of coronary artery disease, congenital cardiac anomalies and evaluation of left ventricular function and viability. He is a regular lecturer in several seminars in the division of Cardiology and the Department of Radiology and is a research mentor for several clinical fellows. Recent Publications Raggi P .
