Leila Ledbetter became the director and archivist of the PA History Center at the Duke University Medical Center Archives in April 2009, where she began contributing to the work already started by collecting PA history documents and artifacts and making them accessible to the public.
Ms. Ledbetter is originally from Connecticut and received a bachelor's degree in biology from Marietta College in Marietta, Ohio. This background has served her well throughout her career, providing opportunities for her to work in both library and archival settings, from the Environmental Protection Agency to University of North Carolina's Health Sciences Library. In December 2008, she received her master's of library and information science degree from the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee. As an intern at the Duke Medical Center Library, Ms. Ledbetter worked in several capacities., including Information and Education Services and the History of Medicine Collections before she took her position with the PA History Center.
