Dr Fitch is Professor Emeritus at the University of Western Australia's School of Sport Science, Exercise and Health. For forty years Ken has played a leading role in sports medicine. From the Olympic Games of 1972 onwards he has served as a physician and from 1975 to 1984 he was the Chief Physician for team Australia. In 2000 he served as Chairperson of the Australian Olympic Committee's Medical Commission to oversee all Sports Medicine services for the Olympic Games in Sydney. He has also been a member of the Medical Commission of the International Olympic Committee and has served as Chairman of the Australian Sports Drug Medical Advisory Committee.
Dr. Fitch has written extensively on sports medicine, illustrated by more than 58 articles in peer reviewed journals, 28 book chapters, and has been editor of seven books.
