Dr. Joseph Cleveland, Jr., is an associate professor of surgery at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Center. He is board certified in thoracic surgery and his clinical practice encompasses all areas of adult cardiovascular surgery. He is the surgical director of the mechanical circulatory support and cardiac transplantation programs at the University of Colorado Hospital, and has expertise in these clinical areas as well as an interest in the cardiac surgical management of elderly patients.
Dr. Cleveland has published over 100 peer-reviewed articles, numerous book chapters and has spoken at national meetings regarding cardiac surgery. He has been interviewed by the Wall Street Journal regarding tools to assess frailty in elders presenting for cardiac surgery. He was recognized by 5280 magazine as one of Denver's "Top Docs" in 2010.
