Harold S. Nelson, MD

    Dr. Harold Nelson is a professor of medicine at the University of Colorado School of Medicine and National Jewish Health hospital in Denver. Dr. Nelson served previously for 30 years in the United States Army Medical corps: during this time, he rose to the rank of Colonel, serving as chief of the allergy-immunology service at Fitzsimons Army Medical Center in Aurora, Colorado; as head of the allergy-immunology training program; and as consultant to the Surgeon General in allergy and clinical immunology.

    A fellow of the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology (AAAAI), and the American College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology (ACAAI), Dr. Nelson has served on an array of medical committees and in key organizational positions, including his work at the National Institutes of Health's National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute, the Food and Drug Administration, the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America, and the AAAAI and ACAAI. He has published more than 200 peer-reviewed articles, book chapters and miscellaneous publications, and spoken at organizational meetings and conferences worldwide.

    Dr. Nelson earned his medical degree from Emory University School of Medicine, completed his residency in internal medicine at Letterman Army Medical Center in San Francisco, and finished his fellowship in allergy and immunology at the University of Michigan.
