Gregory Demske

    Gregory Demske is the assistant inspector general for legal affairs in the United States Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). In this position, he has the delegated authority to initiate and resolve administrative health care fraud actions on behalf of the HHS Office of Inspector General (OIG). These actions include OIG civil monetary penalty cases and exclusions from participation in federal health care programs. These administrative actions arise independently and in conjunction with False Claims Act cases involving Medicare or other HHS programs.

    In addition to being the HHS signatory for settlements of these types of cases, he executes all corporate integrity agreements (CIAs) on behalf of the OIG. The assistant inspector general also serves as a deputy to the OIG chief counsel and shares overall management responsibility for the Office of Counsel to the Inspector General. Mr. Demske has served in a variety of management and staff positions in the OIG's counsel office over the past 17 years. He has also served as a Special Assistant United States Attorney in the District of Columbia.
