George Korch is the senior science advisor to the assistant secretary of preparedness and response in the US Department of Health and Human Services. He is also a visiting professor in the department of molecular microbiology and immunology at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. In 2008, Mr. Korch retired from the US Army Medical Department, where he had several positions in leadership, including commander of the US Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases and director of the Department of Defense Medical Chemical and Biological Defense Research Program. He served as one of the first directors of the National Biodefense Analysis and Countermeasure Center in the US Department of Homeland Security.
