Dr. Eamonn R. Maher is a professor of medical genetics and department head of medical and molecular genetics at the University of Birmingham in the UK. His research interests relate to identifying the molecular basis of inherited developmental and cancer susceptibility disorders. He has a particular clinical and research interest in the clinical and molecular genetics of familial renal tumors and the genetic basis of sporadic kidney cancer. He has published more than 250 research papers and also heads the Cancer Research UK Renal Molecular Oncology group.
