Dr. Connie Mariano received her medical dgree from the Uniformed Services University School of Medicine in Bethesda, Maryland. She was commissioned as lieutenant in the United States Navy upon graduation, and completed her internship and residency in internal medicine at the Naval Hospital in San Diego. She served 24 years of active duty service in the Navy, retiring in 2001 with the rank of Rear Admiral.
In 1992, she became the first military women in US history to be appointed White House physician, where she was physician to three sitting presidents— President George HW Bush, President Bill Clinton, and President George W. Bush.
Dr. Mariano founded in 2005 the Center for Executive Medicine, a medical concierge practice in Scottsdale, Arizona, where she currently practices.
