Dr. Carolyn Robinowitz is past president of the American Psychiatric Association and former dean of the Georgetown University School of Medicine. A long time educator and clinician, Dr. Robinowitz was also a professor of psychiatry and associate dean for students at Georgetown. Before joining the Georgetown faculty, she was senior deputy medical director and chief operating officer of the American Psychiatric Association.

Dr. Robinowitz is a graduate of Wellesley College and Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. She completed her pediatric and general psychiatry training at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York. In addition, she completed a fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry at Children's Hospital in Washington, DC. She is well known nationally, having served as president of the following: American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology; the American College of Psychiatrists; the Council of Medical Specialty Societies; the Group for the Advancement of Psychiatry and the Association for Academic Psychiatry.
