Carlos Camargo, MD, DrPH, MPH

    Dr. Carlos A. Camargo is an associate professor of medicine and epidemiology at Harvard Medical School, and an emergency physician at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.

    Dr. Camargo's research focuses on respiratory/allergy disorders in several large cohorts (such as the Nurses' Health Study). He also founded and directs the Emergency Medicine Network (EMNet), a research collaboration involving almost 200 medical centers. This network has completed numerous multicenter studies and randomized trials focusing on respiratory/allergy emergencies and other public health issues.

    Dr. Camargo is past president of the American College of Epidemiology and recently served on the expert panel that wrote the 2007 NIH asthma guidelines. He currently serves on the expert panel writing the new NIH food allergy guidelines.

    Dr. Camargo has more than 350 publications.

    He received his MD from the University of California, San Francisco; MPH from the University of California, Berkeley; and DrPH from the Harvard School of Public Health.
