Anita Mahajan, MD
Dr. Anita Mahajan is a Radiation Oncologist and is currently the Medical Director of the Proton Therapy Center at Mayo Clinic in Minnesota. The Proton Beam Therapy Program is directed by the Mayo Clinic Cancer Center, the only National Cancer Institute-designated comprehensive cancer center in the country with a multisite presence, with locations in Arizona, Florida and Minnesota.
Dr. Mahajan was born in England and since then has lived in Toronto, Montreal, Saudi Arabia, and the United States. She holds an undergraduate degree in Biochemistry from the University of Toronto and a medical degree from McGill University. She then completed a fellowship in proton radiotherapy in Boston at the Massachusetts General Hospital and was on staff at the New England Medical Center of Tufts University and MD Anderson before joining Mayo Clinic.
Throughout her career, Dr. Mahajan has continued to have a passion for treating patients successfully with minimal side effects. In her field, she has the ability to work with other professionals including surgeons and medical oncologists to make sure each patients receives the best possible care. In her current role, Dr. Mahajan has had the opportunity to ensure patients will be cared for by a team of specialists from different fields who work together to determine a patient’s best treatment options. This is especially beneficial when it comes to coordinating complex treatment protocols involving multiple therapies.
