Dr. Albert O. Edwards is an associate professor of ophthalmology at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. Dr. Edwards joined Mayo Clinic in 2006 from the Eugene McDermott Center for Human Growth and Development, University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas.

Dr. Edwards was a scientist and president of the Institute for Retina Research, Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas. He earned his MD and PhD degrees from Baylor College of Medicine, and completed his ophthalmology residency at the University of Illinois at Chicago. At the Casey Eye Institute, Oregon Health Sciences University, Dr. Edwards completed a fellowship in vitreoretinal surgery and also a Heed Fellowship in ophthalmic genetics, medical retina, and uveitis. 

Dr. Edwards has contributed over 59 articles and chapters to the scientific literature.
