Wedding Milestones Continue to Drive Early Demand for Aesthetic Procedures, AAFPRS Reports

Key Takeaways

  • AAFPRS reports that non-surgical procedures accounted for 80% of facial plastic procedures performed in 2025, reflecting sustained patient demand for subtle aesthetic enhancements before milestone events.
  • Facial plastic surgeons report that pre-wedding consultations increasingly begin months to a year before ceremonies, allowing time for staged treatment plans and recovery from surgical procedures.
  • Wedding-related aesthetic consultations now extend beyond brides to include grooms, parents, and members of the wedding party, according to the AAFPRS.

As weddings evolve into multi-event celebrations documented across professional photography and social media, facial plastic surgeons are reporting that patients are planning aesthetic treatments earlier than ever, according to the latest annual member survey from the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (AAFPRS).

The organization reported that non-surgical procedures accounted for 80% of facial plastic procedures performed by responding members in 2025, reflecting continued demand for minimally invasive treatments that offer subtle, natural-looking improvements before major life events.

According to Anthony Brissett, MD, President of the AAFPRS and Division Chief of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Houston Methodist, patients are increasingly approaching wedding-related aesthetic care with longer planning horizons.

"Our patients aren't asking to look like someone else before their wedding—they simply want to look rested, refreshed, and confident," Brissett said in a statement. "The biggest change we've seen is that patients are planning much earlier. They understand that achieving natural-looking results often requires thoughtful timing."

Pre-Wedding Consultations Emphasize Long-Term Treatment Planning

AAFPRS members report that pre-wedding consultations commonly include neuromodulators for dynamic rhytides, soft tissue fillers to restore facial balance and volume, and skin rejuvenation procedures such as laser treatments, radiofrequency microneedling, and chemical peels. Surgical procedures—including rhinoplasty and blepharoplasty—also remain part of treatment discussions for patients who have previously considered surgery and view an upcoming wedding as a motivating milestone.

The organization suggests that earlier consultations allow clinicians to develop staged treatment plans, particularly for procedures that require multiple sessions or extended recovery periods before optimal cosmetic outcomes are achieved.

The trend is also broadening beyond traditional bridal patients. According to the survey, 95% of responding facial plastic surgeons treated male patients in 2025, with physicians reporting increased demand from grooms, parents of the couple, and members of the wedding party seeking aesthetic treatments before wedding celebrations.

AAFPRS attributes the growing interest, in part, to the expanding timeline of modern weddings, which often includes engagement photography, rehearsal events, destination celebrations, and extensive social media coverage, placing greater emphasis on long-term aesthetic planning rather than last-minute cosmetic procedures.
