Emblation has launched the Swiftscope app, a new digital imaging platform designed to help clinicians visually monitor treatment progress in patients undergoing SwiftPro microwave therapy for common and plantar warts, according to a news release. The announcement follows the company’s recent FDA 510(k) clearance for the SwiftPro system.

Swiftscope App Expands Visual Tracking for Wart Treatment Monitoring

According to Emblation, the Swiftscope app integrates with smartphone and iPad dermatoscopes, allowing clinicians to capture standardized clinical and dermoscopic images throughout the treatment journey. The platform enables side-by-side image comparisons intended to help providers document lesion response over time and improve patient understanding of treatment progress.

“We are pleased to announce the launch of the Swiftscope app, which provides clinicians the ability to capture and compare treatments and visually show their patients to help educate them about their diagnosis and treatment journey,” said Ian Stevens, chief executive officer of Emblation, in the press release.

The company stated that its microwave heat therapy is designed to stimulate an immune response while minimizing discomfort commonly associated with traditional wart therapies. Emblation reported that more than 650,000 Swift treatments have been performed globally since the platform’s launch in 2016, with more than 85% of patients experiencing complete resolution and low recurrence rates compared with traditional approaches. The release did not specify supporting study data for these figures.

Tracey Vlahovic, DPM, of Bay Area Foot Care, said the app may also improve patient engagement during treatment courses that can extend over several weeks or months.

“With the Swiftscope app, I can show patients exactly how their treatment is working in real-time,” Vlahovic said in the news release. “Giving patients that visual understanding of progress from the very first appointment keeps them motivated.”
