Newly published research explored patient perceptions and satisfaction with teledermatology services in the post-pandemic era, showing high satisfaction rates and preferences for hybrid care models.
The study surveyed a diverse group of dermatology patients who had utilized teledermatology services during or after the COVID-19 pandemic. Participants reported high overall satisfaction with teledermatology, citing convenience, time savings, and accessibility as key benefits. However, some patients highlighted limitations, including reduced personal interaction and difficulties in assessing certain conditions virtually.
A notable finding was the preference among many patients for a hybrid care model, combining teledermatology for routine follow-ups with in-person visits for more complex cases. The study underscores the importance of integrating teledermatology thoughtfully into dermatologic practice to meet diverse patient needs effectively.
"Collectively, our study contributes valuable insights into the complication rates and risk factors associated with different repair techniques after MMS, further informing clinical decision-making and patient care. Though these results are based on a relatively large sample size, the procedures were performed over a large time frame, and treatments were performed by multiple surgeons. Thus, treatment approaches may have varied, and these results may not be generalizable to all patients undergoing large reconstructions.
