Electronic cigarette use by parents is associated with increased chances of pediatric atopic dermatitis, according to an article published last month by JAMA Dermatology.
In a retrospective cross-sectional analysis of the 2014 to 2018 National Health Interview Survey, researchers found that parental electronic cigarette use was reported in 18% of cases in which children indicated having had eczema or any kind of skin allergy in the past 12 months; parental electronic cigarette use was reported in only 14.4% of cases that did not include pediatric atopic dermatitis.
